About Vishwakarma Puja(উৎসব পরিচিতি)
Vishwakarma Puja 2026 is a day of tribute to the 'Devshilpi' or the divine architect of the universe. In the industrial belts of Bengal, from the jute mills of Howrah to the IT hubs of Salt Lake, machines are silent and draped in garlands. It is a unique day where the tools of labor are worshipped, and the sky is filled with a thousand colorful kites, marking the true arrival of autumn.
History: Vishwakarma is credited with the engineering of celestial cities like Dwarka and the weapons of the gods. In Bengal, this puja is traditionally celebrated on the 'Bhadra Sankranti'. For generations, it has been the most important day for the working class, a day where the factory floor is transformed into a sacred space, and the 'Bhodji' (community lunch) brings workers and owners together in a rare display of equality.
Significance: It is a day that honors the dignity of labor and the tools of craftsmanship. The tradition of 'Ghuri Uraana' (kite flying) on this day is a beloved secular hobby that unites the entire state as they look toward the blue autumn sky.
