About Vivekananda Jayanti(উৎসব পরিচিতি)
Vivekananda Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the legendary spiritual leader and philosopher who introduced the profound Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world. It is celebrated as National Youth Day across India, reflecting his unshakeable belief in the power, intellect, and spiritual capability of the youth. His teachings transcend religion, focusing heavily on self-realization and universal brotherhood.
History: Swami Vivekananda was born Narendranath Datta in 1863 in a prominent Bengali family in Kolkata. His historic speech at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago (1893) made him a global figure and revived Hinduism as a major world religion. Recognizing the incredible impact of his philosophy on young minds, the Government of India declared his birthday as National Youth Day in 1984, to be observed every year on January 12th.
Significance: The day serves as a reminder of the values of courage, man-making education, and selfless service. His philosophy of 'Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached' continues to inspire millions in Bengal and beyond. The Belur Math, founded by him, remains a place of global pilgrimage.
